Bar Ai Nomboli was suggested by an original Venetian and was a great advise.
I believe, without fear of contradiction, that Ai Nomboli you can find the best sandwiches in Venice. In fact, as far as I’m concerned, the sandwich I ordered myself, roast beef, broccoli and cheese, was one of the best I’ve ever eaten in my life . Incredibly tourists do not seem to notice the existence of this bar and they pass, given that its proximity to the tourist Basilica Dei Frari, without blinking, as if it were one of the many touristy bars in Venice.
Not spotting a perfect stop for a quick lunch. Consequently Ai Nomboli you will find mainly Venetians. The fact of not having been discovered by tourists is confirmed by the closing day, Sunday, as a bar that works with tourists never choose. In addition Nomboli prices are competitive, and I repeat, offering the highest quality.
I must say that the Nomboli has solved an atavistic problem that for years we found in Venice: find a good spot for a quick lunch, all by spending a few euro. This bar is a great find. Go and ask without hesitation the list of special sandwich (6 Euros), all made on the spot with quality ingredients: shrimp and asparagus; pears, cheese and raw; suppressed, anchovies, zucchini; Tuna shrimp, arugula and spicy oil; shrimp, artichokes and arugula; blue cheese, tuna, onions. Just to name a few. Even the tramezzini (culinary invention born between Venice and Mestre) are fantastic.
In addition Nomboli will also find some good centrifuges, wine and spritz. The interior of the bar is home to 4/5 tables and is a bit ‘spartan, the outside will find others 4/5.
Furthermore, try the very good coffee with condensed milk.
For us the best stop for a quick lunch that Venice has to offer. Not to be missed.
Obviously you do not book, the tables are not so many but the turnover is fast.
