In summer Senigallia is besieged by the numerous tourists who have recently discovered the beauties of the Marche. Among the excellences of this region we can not fail to mention the cuisine that offers dishes of sea and land of great value.
Fondaloro restaurant is located in the heart of Senigallia. The Foro Annonario which hosts it is one of the most characteristic places in the city, the neoclassical square has recently been the natural setting for the advertising of the BMW and it is here that the fish market comes to life in the morning. Was there a better place to host a seafood restaurant?
I warn you immediately: in the summer you can book in advance, the seats are not very many and the restaurant has reached – in my view, deservedly – a certain fame.
As you will have understood here we eat mainly fish, and since we are on the Adriatic, the true protagonist of Fondaloro is the Adriatico’s bluefish. In fact, among the certainly most successful dishes of the restaurant there is the pie and pasta with sardines, recipes prepared according to the Marche tradition. In addition to the menu – which also offers a few dishes of land – there are many offers of the day, clearly influenced by what brought the sea. I tried a pasta with cod, tomatoes and asparagus really rich and tasty.
Among the dishes that are very successful, we point out a vegetable or sea fried, a dish with a biblical dimension.
Excellent mussel soutè, white or spicy.
Prices range from 10 euros for a first course to 18 for the mixed grill of the Adriatic (with or without fine herbs).
Only perplexity: the service is not exactly impeccable, perhaps because of the summer period that saw the restaurant packed.
Fondaloro is still a good choice also reported by many guides such as Slow Food.
