Do you want an easy, quick and delicious dessert? Strawberry Crumble is for you, friends of FoodMeTender!

All you need are strawberries and little else, 25 minutes in the oven and you will have a snack for your children or a dessert for dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 punnets of fresh and ripe strawberries (possibly “favetta”strawberries or farm strawberries)
  • Sugar and lemon juice to season them (add a torn basil leaf for a fresher taste)
  • Shortcrust pastry – for ingredients and recipe click here
  • Brown sugar
  • Flaked almonds

Prepare the shortcrust pastry following this recipe. Then take half the dough and crumble it roughly into small pieces with your hands, alternatively freeze half the dough and then grate it with a grater with large holes. Leave the “crumble” in the fridge well spread out on a baking sheet.

Wash the strawberries well and remove the stem.

Cut them into pieces and season them with sugar and lemon (basil or mint to taste) and mix quickly without forming too much “juice”.

Take a small baking dish and butter it lightly. Place the seasoned strawberries and create a homogeneous layer.

Place the shortcrust pastry “crumble” on the strawberries with your hands and create a messy layer covering the strawberries. Add the chopped almond flakes and sprinkle a little brown sugar on top.

Bake at 180°C for about 20-25 minutes, until the shortcrust pastry has browned and become crispy.

Let it cool completely and serve. If you like, you can warm it up a little in the oven before serving. It goes well with cream or custard ice cream.

One, two, three… the Crumble is done!
